Binah

 

Binah is the third Sefirah.  Binah signifies Understanding and is located on the left or restrictive side of the Tree of Life configuration.  Binah represents the womb, or the mother, just as Chochmah (the right brain) is representative of the father, therefore Binah corresponds to the brain’s left hemisphere.  Also, Binah is related to the Hebrew word, livnot, ‘to build,’ and in its interdependent state, builds, comprehends, and incorporates the intuitions of Chochmah.  With Binah it is possible to understand one thing from another, and it utilizes the powers of deduction and analysis.
