Yesod
Yesod, the ninth Sefirah, interestingly, functions as a channel. It is considered a conduit for the power of Tiferet (Divine love and benevolence) to reach the final Sefirah, Malchut [1]. In the tzelem Elohim (the semblance, likeness or image of God in man), Yesod signifies the procreative organs (the phallus in the male, and the womb in the female). It designates foundation. There are at least two metaphoric concepts that correspond to this definition. Yesod can represent either the foundation of the generations (the procreative process), or even the way the foundation of a building (Yesod) has its unification, connection, or grounding with the earth (in this case, Malchut). What’s more, Yesod as the foundation can entail the beginning of something, and accordingly is considered to be the endpoint of the Divine configuration of the Sefirotic tree. This makes clear the saying from the Kabbalalstic text, the Sefer Yetzirah that essentially states, “the end is embedded in the beginnning, and the beginning in the end.”
[1] Tiferet and Malchut are traditionally seen to represent masculine and feminine principles of the Creator. Malchut, in particular symbolizes the Holy Shechinah, the Divine Feminine Presence of God.
